The workshop provides conceptual and methodological elements for addressing the implementation of trade strategies, in line with sustainable development objectives, taking into account the needs of small and medium size enterprises (SMEs). Furthermore, in the light of case studies carried out in various countries of the region concerning supply and demand of environmental goods and services for SMEs, market opportunities at national and international level in the light of ongoing trade negotiations on environmental goods and services are evaluated. The international context, trade rules and policy options for simultaneously improving market access, competitiveness and environmental performance of SMEs is emphasized.
